He is a former professor of finance at Dublin City University (DCU)\, where he also set up the Irish-medium innovation centre\, Fiontar. Finbarr has a particular interest in identity and authenticity in business and how the Irish language can contribute to that in winning ways. He is a former chairman of Zamano\, a high-tech start-up founded by Fiontar students\, now publicly listed in Dublin and London. He was an economics professor at Maynooth University and a visiting professor at the University of Michigan\, Fordham University and Aalto University.\n\n\n\nFinbarr is co-author of the books Digging Deeper: How Purpose-Driven Enterprises Create Real Value (Greenleaf Publishing\, 2016)\, The Irish Edge: How Enterprises Compete on Authenticity and Place (Orpen Press\, 2013) and Capitalising on Culture\, Competing on Difference (Blackhall Publishing\, 2008)\, and co-editor of a book of essays from the 2009 MacGill Summer School on Ireland's economic crisis.
